The Numbers
What are Numbers? Simply a design containing a couple of curves and straight lines, a representation of our fingers from the left thumb to the right little finger or from the right thumb to the left little finger and then counting the fingers again and again as the number increases and reaches to one's maximum capacity!
Capacity of holding his breath to see what the number written on the clock next to him says, and also the capacity of releasing the breath he had been holding for a couple of seconds while facing difficulty in realizing the difference of a single zero and one between 10 and 11 written on that clock! While that second hand took one second to move to 11 from 10, thousands of milliseconds passed! In those thousands of milliseconds, millions of thoughts went through my subconscious mind which I failed to write on this very blogger page of mine, which says it's mine but actually belongs to Google.
And then comes some filtered thoughts of what I actually wanted to say and then I continue....
For me, the numbers were nothing more than this untill yesterday, when I realised it's value. The value of being -1 from a number. The value of being one less and how that pain feels when you can't have something you always wished for because of that very negative number. The numbers which used to be nothing more than a curve to me, now count my breaths. The breaths which come out and each of them asks me "why are you one less"?
And then the orange coloured cover of the Alchemist kept in my book shelf draws my attention from the mobile screen and throws me back to Santiago to know how those unearthly dry winds under the scorching sun of the Sahara actually feels. Very suddenly all the philosophies of destiny in the form of a bullet of 7.62*39 mm gets shot into my forebrain and forces me to think if it was this, what I was destined for, for being one less?
But do these numbers actually make a difference? Does being one less means I can't have what I always wanted to? It's all in the mind of people who don't consider "a one less" worth themselves, whereas actually, they can be more worth than any other. After all we are only confined by the walls built by us! And if that wall require numbers to open up, then dear reader, your mind is nothing but a cage which only opens when you put the required alpha-numeric passcode!
PS: If you think, I have written the blog after seeing my report card, please give it a second thought!
